Watch Your Head production company has brought to life Shakespeare’s Midsummer’s Night’s Dream, in the most enchanting and magical way, making you literally run away with the fairies and fall in love with Shakespeare all over again. Set within the spectacular ornate Savill Garden in Windsor, guests are welcomed into a quintessentially English paradise. With a bottle of wine in one hand, and a blanket in another, we followed Puck’s magic, a bottom with an ass’ head – a truly beautiful one albeit it, and star crossed lovers who fell in and out of love, as we moved from one part of the beautiful garden to another.
Sasha and Sara the masterminds behind this innovative production have cleverly combined exquisite costumes, musical impressionism, and the breathtaking natural surroundings. Peacock feathers are the centre for the inspiration of the truly creative costumes. Titania’s costume alone is decorated with over 500 leucsitic Indian peacock feathers. The fairies are not just characters, but they appear unexpectedly as you walk through the gardens. One moment they are playing the flute by the pond the next they appear out of a rose bush, making you feel that you are very much part of a Midsummer’s Night’s Dream.
A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream in Savill Garden is on until 19th July 2015. For £35 this is a must see – I couldn’t think of a better to way to spend these gorgeous Summer evenings. The gardens are so beautiful, it is worth coming an hour early to soak it in. Wear comfortable shoes, pack a picnic, take a blanket or foldable chair to sit on, and let yourself be transported into this sweet fantasy.
